Heartwarming November Wedding at Sugarbush Resort
When Janina and Will decided to get married, they knew they wanted their day to be focused on what mattered most to them and their friends and family. I met Will many years back when we both worked at a local tech company, so when he proposed to Janina they both knew I was going to be the perfect choice to help them put their experience first. They had their traditional ceremony at a catholic church in their hometown, and then made their way to the Sugarbush Resort in Warren, VT to celebrate with all their friends and family.
November Wedding In the Mad River Valley
Both Janina and Will got ready with their wedding parties in two of the many suites at Sugarbush, and then traveled separately to their ceremony in Waterbury. They saved the moment when they’d see each other for the first time when Janina walked down the aisle, and looking at Will’s reaction just makes my heart melt every time. They then headed back to celebrate with friends and family at the resort, but not before I snuck them both away for some couples’ portraits in front of the mountains.
One of my favorite things about this wedding was that Janina not only made her own cake for her wedding, but she made SIX CAKES. She runs her own cakery business called Red Poppy Cakery, and I can tell you from personal experience how excited I was when I heard she made sure every layer of her cakes was a different flavor. It put such a personal touch on their day that made it that much more meaningful.
Thoughts from the couple on planning their wedding
The couple also had amazing things to say about their day. They were both so excited to spend time with all their loved ones, and were surprised at how amazingly different being married feels. In other words, it was sheer perfection. Janina was so grateful that she had a team behind her so that she could shut off her “planner brain” and hit cruise control to enjoy every second. Since Janina is part of the wedding industry herself, she had the chance to connect and collaborate with most of our vendors before her own wedding, so it brought her so much joy and peace of mind having seen all their amazing work many times before.
Her biggest piece of advice for others getting married?
“Experience trumps aesthetic. You and your guests will remember how much fun they had more than what color the napkins were. It’s also a great way to navigate vendors and packages when you prioritize that experience.”
The day was jammed pack for sure, but they both still made lots of moments for each other to take it all in. Everyone spent the night tearing it on the dancefloor, myself included! I will continue to dream about those wedding cakes for years to come.
