The Sweetest Lake Willoughby Microwedding

We’re getting ever closer to my first summer wedding of the year, and while I’m nervous that my blog writing mighhtttt become a little less frequent (although I’m super proud of how many helpful topic posts I have planned for this year!) I cannot wait to get into the groove of photographing weddings again. What better way to get into the mood of summer weddings than by reminiscing on Jill and Jeremy’s intimate elopement on Lake Willoughby from last summer.

Darling Lakeside Cabin Wedding in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont

This was one of the rare times when I reached out to a couple first when I heard the news they were getting hitched! Jill and I spoke over social and we immediately knew it was meant to be. Jill has such a quiet and thoughtful presence about her, and her attention to detail was absolutely spectacular. When I learned they’d be having their small elopement on Lake Willoughby at the Mountain Lake Cottages, I was beyond excited. I still believe Lake Willoughby is the most magical palace in VT.

We made time for a sweet little first look at the cottages before the day started, and made our way down to the south beach for some couple’s portraits. I made sure to use that time to get great detail shots of Jill’s dress, which was originally her grandmother’s. From there this sweet little party was filled with laughter and gorgeous golden lake views. My personal favorite moment from the day was when the guests did a coordinated ‘plane launch’ with those fun little wooden toy planes - the reception tent was set up on a pretty steep hill so they could really get those planes to take off. And of course we had to get those quintessential couples portraits on the lake as the sun set over the mountains. Overall it was an incredibly gorgeous day with some gorgeous people.
