Peak Fall Foliage Elopement in Killington, Vermont

newly eloped couple walks arm in arm in peak foliage near killington vermont

Think you need a lot of time to plan a wedding? Well Lauren and Pat planned their intimate Vermont elopement in less than TWO WEEKS. Not only did they make it happen on such a quick timeline, I know from my experience documenting their day that their celebration was made even more special because of it. How did they do it? By trusting the people they worked with, and letting go of any expectations of what a wedding should look like.

Sunrise Hike in Killington VT

When they first reached out, one of the first questions Lauren had for me was if I had any recommendations for an early morning hike near where they were having their ceremony later in the day. As I talked about in my blog post on my favorite elopement locations, I pounced at the chance to scout out the perfect hiking spot. We ended up making the 4 am hike up Doe’s Leap Trail in Killington VT with some of their close friends, and ended up having amazing views of the surrounding mountains and fall foliage. It made for the perfect backdrop to take gorgeous portraits of these two, plus their two dogs Felix and Kara.

After the descent back down the trail, we made a quick pit stop at the Airbnb they were staying at to freshen up and warm up all the food they bought for their friends and family later. I can honestly say I’ve never seen an oven so full of food before.

Intimate Elopement at Coolidge State Park

We then headed out to the elopement spot in Coolidge State Park, which also had great views and decorated with a wooden arbor Lauren built herself. Friends and family gathered for a short and sweet ceremony, after which lots of video calls were made to help celebrate the occasion. These two absolutely brought it with their desserts, so I felt kinda bad stealing them away for a few short minutes to make sure we got couples portraits down the path with all the gorgeous fall colors.

This elopement was a beautiful exercise in trust and keeping the focus on the things that mattered to Lauren and Pat - close friends and family, good food, and lots of pet snuggles. I’m so honored to have been part of this day <3
